How long after a marriage breakup should a person start dating?

I don't know the answer exactly. I've been seperated a little over a month %26amp; I know I am definately NOT ready. I'm still letting go of him %26amp; finding me. I'm not sure when %26amp; if I will be ready. Divorce/seperation is very painful. It causes you to spend to much time on internet questions %26amp; answers :)How long after a marriage breakup should a person start dating?
it really depends on you. Me personally i would take care of me first before i can be with someone else again. That can take more than a year. It all depends. Sorry about the breakup i hope you find happiness again. How long after a marriage breakup should a person start dating?
couple of months
How about tonight?
Some people start before the breakup. Others are so glad to be out of a bad relationship they can't wait to get out and start life again. Others are more Victorian and think they have to wait for some period of time.
Afterwards??? why wait until then! I mean its going to be over anyways right? What's one more thing to add to the list.
Good question,
If you filed for the D ... 10 minutes.

If he filed for D ......... 10 minutes.
Right of the bat, I would say about one year.

However, I think you should wait until you are sure that healing has occurred and that you are very ready for the next relationship
I think that's dependant upon the person who is divorced.
sounds like the other half already has,is that the reson for the divorce
When ever they feel the need to.
YOU WILL KNOW IN YOUR HEART

WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT
Only after you've given yourself sufficient time to heal. It varies with all of us, depending on how deeply you were hurt, was there cheating involved, etc. If you feel like you've healed well enough, then go out.....just don't get too involved, too soon. It's easy to do too. Nice and slow are the keywords. Have fun, but just not TOO serious!
its totally up to you, on when do you feel its right. dont worry about what other people think of you. some people date right away some wait a while or just never date at all. i suggest let it come naturally. dont go looking for a date, let a date just stroll by and then try to gradually take it in.
I would wait a few months. Find out who you are first. If you don't figure yourself out as an individual seperate from that past relationship you'll never be able to develope a healthy new relationship.
It is a hard question to answer, I guess much of it depends on the nature of the split. Me and my wife recently split and I know my feelings are far too screwed up to think about dating yet-although I wish I was ready to have the confidence to go out in the dating world again. I don't see myself being ready for dating until the new year at least and by then will have been 3-4 months.
Very good question. It all depends on the person. I would say you should wait at lease 4-6 months. I went through a really bad situation and started dating too early, like 1 month after. It was a disaster. Your feelings get so screwed up. I would not recommend that to anyone. I would say safe bet 4-6 months. You need time for yourself before you start seeing people. But there is definitely nothing wrong with dating. Whenever you're ready is a good tim.
2 or 3 years.

Re The anti-gay marriage amendments that are on the ballots of several states this year ?

Are we seeing the power of Democracy in action or the power of the mob ?Re The anti-gay marriage amendments that are on the ballots of several states this year ?
You are goiing to be seeing the SCOTUS striking them all down pretty soon now that precedent has been set by CA, MA, %26amp; CT. Re The anti-gay marriage amendments that are on the ballots of several states this year ?
I believe you are seeing the power of Democracy provided the LGBT people succeed in having their rights... It's unfortunate that more people do not recognize the fact that if 'government' can deny any particular group 'equal rights' they can also deny other groups of their 'equal rights' under the law... I would encourage anyone who has such strong anti-gay sentiments to think long and hard before they start the 'process' of denying others their 'equal rights'...lest they lose some of their own... It doesn't take too much of a stretch of imagination to understand the innumerable rights that may be denied given the past eight horrible years...

Let's say, for example, a particular religious sect becomes 'the majority'...let's say that majority is Muslim...what chance do you really think Christianity or Judaism will stand? Think about it...

Freedom and equal rights are for everyone...if one doesn't agree with that 'right', they do NOT have to participate in it... But...to deny it to anyone else because of their 'personal beliefs' is dead wrong...
This will give the conservatives another reason to go to the polls, while they are there they will vote for McCain. If it were not for gay marriage bringing conservatives to the polls in 2004, W would not have been able to edge out Kerry.
Ballot issues such as that are only designed to get the most bigoted and hateful end of the right in the polling booth. Those states do not even care about stuff like that. It is just a polling stunt.
No gay rights. No White rights. No black rights. No Hispanic rights. How about equal rights for all? It's already there. Use it!
IF and that is a big ';IF'; voter turn out is anything they are expecting the christian right will be in for a shock. That they no longer matter.......

Do you think gay marriage should be legal?

I think it should, I think the every SINGLE state in US should have gay marriage, it's just not fair.Do you think gay marriage should be legal?
Yes, why not? They're not harming anyone by getting married!

:DDo you think gay marriage should be legal?
yea but not bisexuals i hate bi gurls they keep calling me sexy and i dnt like it

The state shouldn't be involved in heterosexual marriage either. But we're talking about social institutions here. There are different dynamics to hetero and homo relationships - one being that two males or two females can't create their own biological children together. The other being that there are still many systematic inequalities for women in our society, and marriage as it exists reflects that.

The state has no business creating any new social institution, call it gay marriage or whatever, it's new. Change comes from the ground up, not the top down. The LGBT 'gay marriage' fools are statists pure and simple. Creating 'gay' marriage is social engineering by the state.

That in a nutshell is why I oppose it.
yeah! people should be able to love whoever they want to. i found this thing yesterday, i think it is brilliant.

Ten reasons gay marriage is not legal:

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
I think gay and lesbian relationships should be recognized. The Bible condems lust between men and women, but it does no condemn loving relationships between two people. So therefore, gay marriage should be legal. Its about the only liberal standpoint I have.

Sexuality is not obtained until your a teenager in most people. So no one is born homosexual or heterosexual. Later in life, your sexuality begins to appear.
I do not believe gay marriage should be legal.

I'm not close minded and I don't look down on homosexuals as people. But, I believe the Bible shows marriage as the union of a man and woman. Getting married is a religious ceremony. A Christian one. Why should the state decide what the Christian church does? I think a gay couple should be able to be represented in the government but it should not be through the Church.
Well, me and my girlfriend are temporarly married until we can get married properly, which will happen either in UK or Poland, since both countries have gay marriage as a legal thing.

I think that gay marriage banning is discrimination and... sexism. I'm serious. It takes away both men's and women's rights to love another man or woman. I know it's confusing, but it works, trust me, I came to this conclusion several times. It 's like 'You can't marry him because s/he's a wo/man!'

BUT! I'm talking only about civil marriage. Telling the Christian Church or any other religion to change its ways is just as bad as banning gay marriage. Civil marriage however, should be legal because it's swearing to law, not God. Also, it doesn't harm ANYONE so I think it's really unfair.

And if you're interested in history: In Shakespears' times, homosexuality was treated as a normal thing. The same as in the Roman times. Even the word 'Lesbian' comes from the name of a Greek goddess, who was said to be homosexual and her name was Lesbos. Look at Alexander the Great, he was gay! Also, why do countries treat Jews so special just because of the Holocaust, they get discounts and such (I'm not against the Jews at all.). What about homosexuals, didn't we go through enough stuff? We also were the victims in the Holocaust, so for ***** sake just let us live normaly for once.
Of course it should be legal. Every other developed country in the world allows gay marriage, including your neighbours to the north, so why do Americans have such a problem with it? The country has no business telling people who they can and can't marry. I firmly believe that if two people, regardless of age or gender, wish to marry eachother, then that's a basic human right, and no one can stop them.
i think so

i just dont understand why people say no.. its not you or anyone you even know. you dont even know about it happening anyways and you dont have to be their. it has nothing to do with you so why say no.. its like telling someone no you can eat pizza because your gay.. no gay people can eat pizza to so why cant they get married?

for all the super doper religious people are there.. who are probably by the way DIVORCED who say that being gay is a sin.. so what its not your sin.. so let them do it. also DIVORCED is a sin and many people get divorced too. so thats a total fallacy to the sin argument.

one man and one woman is a sin when they get divorced but no one stops that from happening

so why not let gay people get married.. they probably wouldnt ever get divorced anyway so both would be commiting a sin who cares???

people sin everyday.. swearing.. talking about whatever.

soo all you really religious need to come up with a different argument when you say its a sin.

so yes it should be legal :)
why not? every one has a right to be happy so who are we to judge gay or not and take away their right to be happy. to me its wrong. it would be like saying straight people dont have the right to be married. people wouldnt like that, so why judge gay people and tell them no? everyone sais its based on religion but theres no right or wrong religion and there are plenty of religious people who are gay. they deserve to be happy and have a family to.
Gay marriage should be legal. No one chose to be gay, it's just the way you are born. Your brain is either programmed to be attracted to people of the opposite sex, or of the same sex. And if you are attracted to people of the same sex then you should be allowed to marry them.
Yes because no matter who your with , the same or different sex you should have the right to get married

your prefernces should not get in the way of my rights - i forgot who it was but if there happy why not , my cousin's gay and i don't mind it one bit because i know he's happy and if he is with a man to make him happy so be it .
yes it sould be legal married is really like a contract of two people to gaher and if that person died then the other can like get there remain or stuff duh so peolpe who r guy and want to get married shouls be able to have the same right plus the wolf is ****** up anyways so who cares (im not gay)
I think it should be legal. I mean, love is love, right?

I'm having a hard time seeing why people freak out over this issue and scream, ';No! No! NO!!'; And practically have a stroke over it. I mean, what if their true love was the same sex as them? I bet that they'd see things differently then.
Yes because it's not hurting anyone. I was in Gay Straight Alliance at my school last year and the high school I'm going to had the very first Gay Straight Alliance in California. So definitely, I believe in it.
YES.

its a persons life to do with it what they want, why is it that some strange people can marry objects (read a weird story about someone marrying a rollercoaster) but some ppl batter eyelashes at gays.

Its bizzard. There not harming anyone!
Yes because everyone has their own opinions in which gender they like or dislike.. America is too biased...being straight is right being gay is wrong..i think gay marriage should be legal you cant control love...so i support gays and gay marriage

%26lt;333
Oh yes! Men getting married has no effect on other people so why should the USA make it illegal, I think it should also be legal in all 10 provinces and territories in Canada too, because it is just not anything bad.
Gay marriage should be legal because nobody chooses to be gay or straight (though some refuse to believe that) there's a part of your brain that decides that for you.
Yes! If someone loves a person it shouldn't matter what gender they are. How would you feel if you were told that you couldn't marry the person you love just because they were the same sex as you?
i absotutely think that gay marriage should be legalized...not just in the US tho. and i think gay love is the sweetest kind of love around.
I think so. What happened to, ';This is a free country'; %26amp; ';Everyone is treated equally'; ? Well that can be thrown down the drain in that case because that phrase is an AUTOMATIC FALSE.
It is legal where I come from.

England :]

(I think it is anyway!?)

And yes, as I've grown up with gay marriage being ok, I think it should be legal in the USA.
yes. its not fair that people that are straight and not in love can get married, but gays that are in love can't get married.
I believe that everyone should have the right to marry who they want, without it becoming a legal affair. It should be legal WORLD WIDE
I think it should be legal, you can't control love.
Yes.

People's sexual preference is of no concern to the government.

Equal rights please...this is 2009 right?

shameful.
People should be able to like whoever the hell they please without getting judged for it.
i think so. i think it would be fair for people who are gay to get married.
i think people should be able to d what they want turn it around what if males and female could not get married how would you feel
Yes, gay marriage should be legal.
Nope, marriage should be between a man and a woman. If we start letting everyone get married, then marriage is no longer as sacred of a ceremony as it once was.

Would you prefer your spouse be experienced or saved themselves for marriage?

All things equal. Same person - just different situation.Would you prefer your spouse be experienced or saved themselves for marriage?
Id want them to have my equal experience so save themselvesWould you prefer your spouse be experienced or saved themselves for marriage?
My honey had experience and I liked it that way. I had experience too and I liked it that way too -- that way I knew what I liked and what I wanted and was gooood.

I was with a guy with zero experience before I met my true love and it was AWK-warrrrd and he was reeeallllly bad but it wasn't his fault he was a 43 year old virgin :-p

So I was extra glad my honey had experience.
I would want them to be inexperienced when I first have sex with them (in a perfect world, I would want to lose my virginity to a fellow virgin), and by the time we get married, he'll be experienced! Haha. That's in a PERFECT world. ; )
I agree with Q %26amp; A. Sex is important to me, and it would really suck to wait, get married, and then find out he's no good in the sack or wasn't packin much.

';Oh, but you could teach him.';

Blah. No thank you to that! And you can't teach them to have a bigger d*ck.
If they were a virgin, I'd be a bit creeped out. Why hadn't they had sex yet??

Then again, too many partners would intimidate me.

Somewhere in between would show that they are normal, and have enough experience to make our sex life amazing.
experienced. in fact, i'd have to have had sex with them before we got married... sex life is a whole thing you need to be aware of before you marry a guy.
experienced only for guys, men, but not for women, girls
Oh i'm pretty sure he's experienced alright!

:)
I only like virgins.
Doesn't matter to me.

  • How do you tell someone that you're not ready for marriage?

I'm nineteen and have been dating an older guy for over a year. He has proposed, but I want to wait until I'm out of college and have a steady job. He thinks that there's more to my reasoning and I'm just stringing him along until someone better or closer to my age group comes along. How do I let him know without a doubt that it's a matter of timing and not love or lack thereof?

And I do love him, by the way.How do you tell someone that you're not ready for marriage?
so tell him what you just told us. if he thinks theirs more reasoning or just some plot. tell him your being honest .and you want to be older, out of school and ready for a commitment like that. if he doesnt respect it, then he's not the guy for you.

When it comes to marriage and long therm relationships?

are feminists the bottom of the barrel, considering they are somewhat critic torwards marriage and torwards men ? I mean can you think of somone worse to marry than a woman which is kind of critic torwards men and marriage ? Could there be a worse pick than a feminist for a wife ?When it comes to marriage and long therm relationships?
I'm currently not looking for a relationship and I'm very picky, so I think it will be a while before I settle down again. I have a friend I have sex with to satisfy the need...I also like to dine and travel with him, but I'm not planning to get married unless I meet someone I want to have children with. I take a committed relationship very seriously and it takes lots of time and energy to build up a good one...I frankly like to put the priority on my career and financial advancement for the moment...

Also, I don't care much about the piece of paper, as the title and ';mental obligations'; bring more bads than goods, other than the tax relief of course.

Not sure what you mean by the ';bottom of the barrel?'; What standard of evaluation are you using? When it comes to marriage and long therm relationships?
I am a feminist and have been married for about twenty years. My husband has no complaints!

Feminism criticizes a culture that seeks to limit and control all people. As far as being critical of marriage, lots of males seem to feel that it is a trap that women set for them.

A worse pick than a feminist would be a woman with no mind of her own.
I think your confusing femenism with feme-nazis.
I am in a long term relationship (16 years), and chose not to marry because we don't want to have children.

However, I think marriage and men are great.

    I'm also a feminist.
You're wasting your time. Most hate men anyway - even if they deny it. It's not politically correct to admit it.
yes maybe the standards are not so high
You're critical of marriage and women, I see it in your posts all the time.

Could there be a worst pick for a husband?
The real feminist are not like that cuz they dint consider themselves like that. Many women who think they are feminist and want to stand out do all this crap. I do respect women but the character that you mentioned above of a feminist sounds like an egoist to me. Now that's me.

regarding she being a wife lets face it if i loved someone like that and married her i will stick by her how rough the sea maybe.
Just because a woman stands up for her rights does not mean she will not make a good partner. I always figured men liked women that were passionate more than those that tolerated everything, having no standards.
