Why does gay marriage bother some people?

I don't understand what difference it makes to the rest of us if people who love eachother choose to be together. It's not like you're going to stop them from having gay sex by banning gay marriage, right? And what business is it of yours anyway? Aren't we a country based on freedom? Why does gay marriage bother some people?
The reasons gay marriage bothers some people:

-They were raised in a household where they were taught to dislike it

-They participate in a religion that interprets a text written by man and says that gays are bad

-They think it's gross and thus wrong

-They are insecure with their own sexuality and it makes them uncomfortable

-They're in the closet and act as though it bothers them in order to appear straight

-They're ignoring separation of church and state, they're ignoring the hundreds of legal rights given to heterosexual couples

-Two gay men/two lesbians can't make a baby

-Gay men are child molesters

Many of these are not based on logic, they're based on prejudice, ignorance, and religion. There is no legal reason to deny the rights of marriage, it's not a sacred thing if you can get it in a drive through down in Las Vegas. Furthermore, to those who are saying two guys don't fit together, I'd like to point out that they've clearly found a pleasurable way to fit together. Also there is an overabundance of orphans living in terrible conditions, studies have shown that LGBT parents are no worse than straight parents, also that almost all child molesters are heterosexual.

Why does gay marriage bother some people?
It is an abomination to God, who instituted marriage for heterosexual couples only at the foundation of the world.

Well, true freedom is technically anarchy. Government-regulated freedom in accompaniment with democracy has to have laws and regulations including that over certain moral issues. Your argument of freedom forgets the things we take for granted. Let's say I think killing mentally handicapped people is o.k. because it rids the genetic pool of their DNA (cruel, I know). Why, based on this argument, should this be illegal. Is it immoral? Well, so is homosexual marriage. God created it, it is based on oral tradition and scripture from the dawn of mankind, so why should this privilege be extended to those that God, the authority of morality, did not originally intend it for?
We are a country based on freedom but also the Bible. Our coins are imprinted with In God We Trust. Our founding forefathers did this. In the Bible there are many places that speak of homosexual relations and the result of this on the people that practice this lifestyle. I hate to think of people being damned to hell for eternity for sexual pleasure. I Corinthians explains it very well. It is unatural. Just because they choose this lifestyle does not mean they get special rights. It is getting harder for the regular everday heterosexual family to get ahead all the time. So should we suffer that gain special rights because of a choice.? I think not
People who are bothered by gay marriage are bigots.

I know it's strong language, but, you know, it was considered strong language in the past to say people who were opposed to interracial marriage were bigots....

They were bigots. Gay marriage opponents *are* bigots and time will prove this.

Every argument they offer is the same argument their grandfathers offered against interacial marriage.

*If* a country that purports to be secular has created a secular institution of marriage then that institution of marriage is not the same as religious marriage and should not be dictated by religious people, especially religious bigots.

Edit: I mean, look at the LIES the opponents of gay marriage spew, for crying out loud...pretending ';In God we Trust'; was our forefathers' will when it is from McCarthyism, and the founding fathers believed E PLURIBUS UNUM.

...and that UNUM means equal rights for all, the whole UNUM, not special rights for religious bigots in the pluribus.
That's the point. Nobody is going to stop them from having gay sex, and most of us don't even want to think that far into it. We simply don't think God would allow homosexual marriages -- in the biblical sense -- and so neither should we. They can be happy without traditional marriages, and still experience the same benefits through civil unions. Nobody is trying to stop that. Some over-anxious people just seem to get really hung up on the traditional definition of the word ';marriage.'; They should really get over it.

';Bigots'; this, and ';hypocrites'; that... blah blah blah. There's no amount of vindictive and petty name-calling that's going to change the views of Christians, or God, on this subject.
I think it's human nature (animal nature). There's always got to be a ';runt';. And men, whether they are gay or straight, naturally develop a heirarchy, just like all animals do.

We fight for dominance. And most of the time, homosexual men are easy prey. (Notice that most of the hate is directed at gay men, not lesbians)

In essence, gay men are easy targets. They are easy to dominate, so historically, we have done so.
Any society that openly condones homosexuality is in the process of self destruction. Homosexuality is self destructive in its very act.

Further, homosexual couples cannot reproduce, nor are they balanced in a way that they can successfully raise children should children be artificially introduced into the situation. A mother and a father are vitally important for the proper development and socialization of both male and female children.

In every historical case of homosexuality becoming prevalent within a society, that society has imploded. I'd prefer that that didn't happen to America. Your preference may vary, but the facts remain.
Because it's unnatural...I love my cat dearly, why can't I marry my cat, not to mention it's a male to boot. If, like you say, it's no body's business then why can't I?...

It is my business when the schools cram gay life down my children's throats against my will and I can't say or do anything about it. What happened to my rights, where's my freedom?...

I recently watched a video of a father who was arrested because he didn't want his children indoctrinated into believing that being gay was okay. For that, he was arrested...Where was his rights to protect his children?

What's next, being arrested for not letting your kids try heroin?

What about pedophiles? Don't they have rights? Is it really anybody's business that they just happen to love molesting children? Can they help it?

The list can go on and on...Just because it feels good don't make it right. God has set rules, not because He's a mean God, but because He knows how morally corrupt we can be if let go. It's for our protection as a society that we obey them.
To some people, ';freedom'; is the ability to force your views on others. The Republicans who claim to be ';pro-freedom'; are referring to freedom in this instance.

It bothers some people because it's a change from the norm, and changes from the norm always bother some people. Yesteryear it was de jure racism; today it is gay marriage.
It pierces the heart of the spirit of marriage. God created woman out of man. Not as a slave or an object of lust but as a companion.

It's a spiritual union.

Same sex marriages are mans creation. Not created by God.

I don't like the idea of accepting something because I can't stop it anyway.

That's complacency and it wreaks.
God’s original intention for marriage is His final decision (Gen.1:27, 2:18-25). When God created a partner for Adam He created Eve - not another Adam. This means that perfect partnership requires some level of difference as well as a level of similarity so great that Adam could cry out loudly, ';This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh';. Sexual intimacy between a man and a woman is the normal method of male/female bonding (emotionally and physically) because it corresponds to the design of our bodies and because it is the normal means by which offspring are created.

If God had intended the human race to be fulfilled through both heterosexual and homosexual marriage, He would have designed our bodies to allow reproduction through both means and made both means of sexual intercourse healthy and natural.

When Jesus was asked questions about marriage he went straight back to the defining passages in Genesis that say that marriage is between male and female and is meant to be life long. He saw the creation accounts in Genesis as authoritative in His day. And what is authoritative for Jesus is authoritative for Christians also. While Jesus did not specifically teach on homosexuality, His establishment of the Genesis passages as the fundamental passages on marriage (even more fundamental than the Law) leaves no doubt as to the outcome.

Romans 1:26-27 , 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, and 1 Timothy 1:9-10 are references indicate that homosexual passions and acts are unnatural, shameful, contrary to sound doctrine and deny entrance to the Kingdom of God. This being so they cannot be the basis of a Christian marriage sanctioned by God's Church. No marriage can be sanctioned by the Church if the very basis of the marriage involves acts that put the couple outside of eternal salvation.

I would have to say this, my friend...............even if I wasn't a Christian, I still would be 'against' homosexual marriage...............it is just plain unnatural..............Free country, or not, has absolutely nothing to do with something being gross..............and not ALL people view physical relationships in the same way..................
Some people are just close minded and stubborn. Some think that their way to right and always will be. Sometimes it has to do with the household you were brought up in or your environment growing up. But most times its the idiocy of the person.
To quote the song ';Kill the Beast'; from ';Beauty and the Beast';:

';We don't like what we don't understand; in fact it scares us';

It's so much easier to condemn, and then hide behind god's skirts, than it is to exercise some empathy.

.
because you canot be fruitfull and multiply.why do you think he created man and woman.what if everyone was gay? would machines do our reproductions. its an abomination to the living god, the sexually immoral will not inheirit the kingdom, must i go on..?
it wasnt part of God's plan.

God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

Let me put it in a different way.

We are like puzzles. male with male doesnt fit.

Female with female doesnt fit. theres a reason why they cant reproduce. they werent made to be together
Marriage was defined as man and woman.

Scientifically males with males can not reproduce, females and females can not reproduce. If it defies nature why give it credit.
Blind ignorance and hateful religious violence! If it is different then it should be hated! Duh! And here I am the natural blond!

Sharon
Because married gay couples can legally adopt a child that they might abuse.
It is their twisted and hypocritical morals, they are immersed in, since early childhood, as a form of brainwashing
Prolly their religion teaches them to hate gays.
Same reason porn bothers people...they see it as a perverse attack on their values. Until they realize this isn't the case, they will always feel that way.
Because they are bigoted. And they really don't want a group of people they hate to be happy.
Equal rights should be all that matters.
Because it is against their religon or it is not like them

This should be about equal rights.. people are so judgemental
Because some people are stupid
It is because of 'their' Agenda that bothers me! (TOO much arrogance and pride in it ALL!)
