How long after a marriage breakup should a person start dating?
I don't know the answer exactly. I've been seperated a little over a month %26amp; I know I am definately NOT ready. I'm still letting go of him %26amp; finding me. I'm not sure when %26amp; if I will be ready. Divorce/seperation is very painful. It causes you to spend to much time on internet questions %26amp; answers :)How long after a marriage breakup should a person start dating?
it really depends on you. Me personally i would take care of me first before i can be with someone else again. That can take more than a year. It all depends. Sorry about the breakup i hope you find happiness again. How long after a marriage breakup should a person start dating?
couple of months
How about tonight?
Some people start before the breakup. Others are so glad to be out of a bad relationship they can't wait to get out and start life again. Others are more Victorian and think they have to wait for some period of time.
Afterwards??? why wait until then! I mean its going to be over anyways right? What's one more thing to add to the list.
Good question,
If you filed for the D ... 10 minutes.
If he filed for D ......... 10 minutes.
Right of the bat, I would say about one year.
However, I think you should wait until you are sure that healing has occurred and that you are very ready for the next relationship
I think that's dependant upon the person who is divorced.
sounds like the other half already has,is that the reson for the divorce
When ever they feel the need to.
YOU WILL KNOW IN YOUR HEART
WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT
Only after you've given yourself sufficient time to heal. It varies with all of us, depending on how deeply you were hurt, was there cheating involved, etc. If you feel like you've healed well enough, then go out.....just don't get too involved, too soon. It's easy to do too. Nice and slow are the keywords. Have fun, but just not TOO serious!
its totally up to you, on when do you feel its right. dont worry about what other people think of you. some people date right away some wait a while or just never date at all. i suggest let it come naturally. dont go looking for a date, let a date just stroll by and then try to gradually take it in.
I would wait a few months. Find out who you are first. If you don't figure yourself out as an individual seperate from that past relationship you'll never be able to develope a healthy new relationship.
It is a hard question to answer, I guess much of it depends on the nature of the split. Me and my wife recently split and I know my feelings are far too screwed up to think about dating yet-although I wish I was ready to have the confidence to go out in the dating world again. I don't see myself being ready for dating until the new year at least and by then will have been 3-4 months.
Very good question. It all depends on the person. I would say you should wait at lease 4-6 months. I went through a really bad situation and started dating too early, like 1 month after. It was a disaster. Your feelings get so screwed up. I would not recommend that to anyone. I would say safe bet 4-6 months. You need time for yourself before you start seeing people. But there is definitely nothing wrong with dating. Whenever you're ready is a good tim.
2 or 3 years.

Re The anti-gay marriage amendments that are on the ballots of several states this year ?
Are we seeing the power of Democracy in action or the power of the mob ?Re The anti-gay marriage amendments that are on the ballots of several states this year ?
You are goiing to be seeing the SCOTUS striking them all down pretty soon now that precedent has been set by CA, MA, %26amp; CT. Re The anti-gay marriage amendments that are on the ballots of several states this year ?
I believe you are seeing the power of Democracy provided the LGBT people succeed in having their rights... It's unfortunate that more people do not recognize the fact that if 'government' can deny any particular group 'equal rights' they can also deny other groups of their 'equal rights' under the law... I would encourage anyone who has such strong anti-gay sentiments to think long and hard before they start the 'process' of denying others their 'equal rights'...lest they lose some of their own... It doesn't take too much of a stretch of imagination to understand the innumerable rights that may be denied given the past eight horrible years...
Let's say, for example, a particular religious sect becomes 'the majority'...let's say that majority is Muslim...what chance do you really think Christianity or Judaism will stand? Think about it...
Freedom and equal rights are for everyone...if one doesn't agree with that 'right', they do NOT have to participate in it... But...to deny it to anyone else because of their 'personal beliefs' is dead wrong...
This will give the conservatives another reason to go to the polls, while they are there they will vote for McCain. If it were not for gay marriage bringing conservatives to the polls in 2004, W would not have been able to edge out Kerry.
Ballot issues such as that are only designed to get the most bigoted and hateful end of the right in the polling booth. Those states do not even care about stuff like that. It is just a polling stunt.
No gay rights. No White rights. No black rights. No Hispanic rights. How about equal rights for all? It's already there. Use it!
IF and that is a big ';IF'; voter turn out is anything they are expecting the christian right will be in for a shock. That they no longer matter.......

Do you think gay marriage should be legal?
I think it should, I think the every SINGLE state in US should have gay marriage, it's just not fair.Do you think gay marriage should be legal?
Yes, why not? They're not harming anyone by getting married!
:DDo you think gay marriage should be legal?
yea but not bisexuals i hate bi gurls they keep calling me sexy and i dnt like it
The state shouldn't be involved in heterosexual marriage either. But we're talking about social institutions here. There are different dynamics to hetero and homo relationships - one being that two males or two females can't create their own biological children together. The other being that there are still many systematic inequalities for women in our society, and marriage as it exists reflects that.
The state has no business creating any new social institution, call it gay marriage or whatever, it's new. Change comes from the ground up, not the top down. The LGBT 'gay marriage' fools are statists pure and simple. Creating 'gay' marriage is social engineering by the state.
That in a nutshell is why I oppose it.
yeah! people should be able to love whoever they want to. i found this thing yesterday, i think it is brilliant.
Ten reasons gay marriage is not legal:
1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.
7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
I think gay and lesbian relationships should be recognized. The Bible condems lust between men and women, but it does no condemn loving relationships between two people. So therefore, gay marriage should be legal. Its about the only liberal standpoint I have.
Sexuality is not obtained until your a teenager in most people. So no one is born homosexual or heterosexual. Later in life, your sexuality begins to appear.
I do not believe gay marriage should be legal.
I'm not close minded and I don't look down on homosexuals as people. But, I believe the Bible shows marriage as the union of a man and woman. Getting married is a religious ceremony. A Christian one. Why should the state decide what the Christian church does? I think a gay couple should be able to be represented in the government but it should not be through the Church.
Well, me and my girlfriend are temporarly married until we can get married properly, which will happen either in UK or Poland, since both countries have gay marriage as a legal thing.
I think that gay marriage banning is discrimination and... sexism. I'm serious. It takes away both men's and women's rights to love another man or woman. I know it's confusing, but it works, trust me, I came to this conclusion several times. It 's like 'You can't marry him because s/he's a wo/man!'
BUT! I'm talking only about civil marriage. Telling the Christian Church or any other religion to change its ways is just as bad as banning gay marriage. Civil marriage however, should be legal because it's swearing to law, not God. Also, it doesn't harm ANYONE so I think it's really unfair.
And if you're interested in history: In Shakespears' times, homosexuality was treated as a normal thing. The same as in the Roman times. Even the word 'Lesbian' comes from the name of a Greek goddess, who was said to be homosexual and her name was Lesbos. Look at Alexander the Great, he was gay! Also, why do countries treat Jews so special just because of the Holocaust, they get discounts and such (I'm not against the Jews at all.). What about homosexuals, didn't we go through enough stuff? We also were the victims in the Holocaust, so for ***** sake just let us live normaly for once.
Of course it should be legal. Every other developed country in the world allows gay marriage, including your neighbours to the north, so why do Americans have such a problem with it? The country has no business telling people who they can and can't marry. I firmly believe that if two people, regardless of age or gender, wish to marry eachother, then that's a basic human right, and no one can stop them.
i think so
i just dont understand why people say no.. its not you or anyone you even know. you dont even know about it happening anyways and you dont have to be their. it has nothing to do with you so why say no.. its like telling someone no you can eat pizza because your gay.. no gay people can eat pizza to so why cant they get married?
for all the super doper religious people are there.. who are probably by the way DIVORCED who say that being gay is a sin.. so what its not your sin.. so let them do it. also DIVORCED is a sin and many people get divorced too. so thats a total fallacy to the sin argument.
one man and one woman is a sin when they get divorced but no one stops that from happening
so why not let gay people get married.. they probably wouldnt ever get divorced anyway so both would be commiting a sin who cares???
people sin everyday.. swearing.. talking about whatever.
soo all you really religious need to come up with a different argument when you say its a sin.
so yes it should be legal :)
why not? every one has a right to be happy so who are we to judge gay or not and take away their right to be happy. to me its wrong. it would be like saying straight people dont have the right to be married. people wouldnt like that, so why judge gay people and tell them no? everyone sais its based on religion but theres no right or wrong religion and there are plenty of religious people who are gay. they deserve to be happy and have a family to.
Gay marriage should be legal. No one chose to be gay, it's just the way you are born. Your brain is either programmed to be attracted to people of the opposite sex, or of the same sex. And if you are attracted to people of the same sex then you should be allowed to marry them.
Yes because no matter who your with , the same or different sex you should have the right to get married
your prefernces should not get in the way of my rights - i forgot who it was but if there happy why not , my cousin's gay and i don't mind it one bit because i know he's happy and if he is with a man to make him happy so be it .
yes it sould be legal married is really like a contract of two people to gaher and if that person died then the other can like get there remain or stuff duh so peolpe who r guy and want to get married shouls be able to have the same right plus the wolf is ****** up anyways so who cares (im not gay)
I think it should be legal. I mean, love is love, right?
I'm having a hard time seeing why people freak out over this issue and scream, ';No! No! NO!!'; And practically have a stroke over it. I mean, what if their true love was the same sex as them? I bet that they'd see things differently then.
Yes because it's not hurting anyone. I was in Gay Straight Alliance at my school last year and the high school I'm going to had the very first Gay Straight Alliance in California. So definitely, I believe in it.
YES.
its a persons life to do with it what they want, why is it that some strange people can marry objects (read a weird story about someone marrying a rollercoaster) but some ppl batter eyelashes at gays.
Its bizzard. There not harming anyone!
Yes because everyone has their own opinions in which gender they like or dislike.. America is too biased...being straight is right being gay is wrong..i think gay marriage should be legal you cant control love...so i support gays and gay marriage
%26lt;333
Oh yes! Men getting married has no effect on other people so why should the USA make it illegal, I think it should also be legal in all 10 provinces and territories in Canada too, because it is just not anything bad.
Gay marriage should be legal because nobody chooses to be gay or straight (though some refuse to believe that) there's a part of your brain that decides that for you.
Yes! If someone loves a person it shouldn't matter what gender they are. How would you feel if you were told that you couldn't marry the person you love just because they were the same sex as you?
i absotutely think that gay marriage should be legalized...not just in the US tho. and i think gay love is the sweetest kind of love around.
I think so. What happened to, ';This is a free country'; %26amp; ';Everyone is treated equally'; ? Well that can be thrown down the drain in that case because that phrase is an AUTOMATIC FALSE.
It is legal where I come from.
England :]
(I think it is anyway!?)
And yes, as I've grown up with gay marriage being ok, I think it should be legal in the USA.
yes. its not fair that people that are straight and not in love can get married, but gays that are in love can't get married.
I believe that everyone should have the right to marry who they want, without it becoming a legal affair. It should be legal WORLD WIDE
I think it should be legal, you can't control love.
Yes.
People's sexual preference is of no concern to the government.
Equal rights please...this is 2009 right?
shameful.
People should be able to like whoever the hell they please without getting judged for it.
i think so. i think it would be fair for people who are gay to get married.
i think people should be able to d what they want turn it around what if males and female could not get married how would you feel
Yes, gay marriage should be legal.
Nope, marriage should be between a man and a woman. If we start letting everyone get married, then marriage is no longer as sacred of a ceremony as it once was.
Yes, why not? They're not harming anyone by getting married!

Would you prefer your spouse be experienced or saved themselves for marriage?
All things equal. Same person - just different situation.Would you prefer your spouse be experienced or saved themselves for marriage?
Id want them to have my equal experience so save themselvesWould you prefer your spouse be experienced or saved themselves for marriage?
My honey had experience and I liked it that way. I had experience too and I liked it that way too -- that way I knew what I liked and what I wanted and was gooood.
I was with a guy with zero experience before I met my true love and it was AWK-warrrrd and he was reeeallllly bad but it wasn't his fault he was a 43 year old virgin :-p
So I was extra glad my honey had experience.
I would want them to be inexperienced when I first have sex with them (in a perfect world, I would want to lose my virginity to a fellow virgin), and by the time we get married, he'll be experienced! Haha. That's in a PERFECT world. ; )
I agree with Q %26amp; A. Sex is important to me, and it would really suck to wait, get married, and then find out he's no good in the sack or wasn't packin much.
';Oh, but you could teach him.';
Blah. No thank you to that! And you can't teach them to have a bigger d*ck.
If they were a virgin, I'd be a bit creeped out. Why hadn't they had sex yet??
Then again, too many partners would intimidate me.
Somewhere in between would show that they are normal, and have enough experience to make our sex life amazing.
experienced. in fact, i'd have to have had sex with them before we got married... sex life is a whole thing you need to be aware of before you marry a guy.
experienced only for guys, men, but not for women, girls
Oh i'm pretty sure he's experienced alright!
:)
I only like virgins.
Doesn't matter to me.mask movie
';Oh, but you could teach him.';
Doesn't matter to me.
How do you tell someone that you're not ready for marriage?
I'm nineteen and have been dating an older guy for over a year. He has proposed, but I want to wait until I'm out of college and have a steady job. He thinks that there's more to my reasoning and I'm just stringing him along until someone better or closer to my age group comes along. How do I let him know without a doubt that it's a matter of timing and not love or lack thereof?
And I do love him, by the way.How do you tell someone that you're not ready for marriage?
so tell him what you just told us. if he thinks theirs more reasoning or just some plot. tell him your being honest .and you want to be older, out of school and ready for a commitment like that. if he doesnt respect it, then he's not the guy for you.

When it comes to marriage and long therm relationships?
are feminists the bottom of the barrel, considering they are somewhat critic torwards marriage and torwards men ? I mean can you think of somone worse to marry than a woman which is kind of critic torwards men and marriage ? Could there be a worse pick than a feminist for a wife ?When it comes to marriage and long therm relationships?
I'm currently not looking for a relationship and I'm very picky, so I think it will be a while before I settle down again. I have a friend I have sex with to satisfy the need...I also like to dine and travel with him, but I'm not planning to get married unless I meet someone I want to have children with. I take a committed relationship very seriously and it takes lots of time and energy to build up a good one...I frankly like to put the priority on my career and financial advancement for the moment...
Also, I don't care much about the piece of paper, as the title and ';mental obligations'; bring more bads than goods, other than the tax relief of course.
Not sure what you mean by the ';bottom of the barrel?'; What standard of evaluation are you using? When it comes to marriage and long therm relationships?
I am a feminist and have been married for about twenty years. My husband has no complaints!
Feminism criticizes a culture that seeks to limit and control all people. As far as being critical of marriage, lots of males seem to feel that it is a trap that women set for them.
A worse pick than a feminist would be a woman with no mind of her own.
I think your confusing femenism with feme-nazis.
I am in a long term relationship (16 years), and chose not to marry because we don't want to have children.
However, I think marriage and men are great.
I'm also a feminist.
You're wasting your time. Most hate men anyway - even if they deny it. It's not politically correct to admit it.
yes maybe the standards are not so high
You're critical of marriage and women, I see it in your posts all the time.
Could there be a worst pick for a husband?
The real feminist are not like that cuz they dint consider themselves like that. Many women who think they are feminist and want to stand out do all this crap. I do respect women but the character that you mentioned above of a feminist sounds like an egoist to me. Now that's me.
regarding she being a wife lets face it if i loved someone like that and married her i will stick by her how rough the sea maybe.
Just because a woman stands up for her rights does not mean she will not make a good partner. I always figured men liked women that were passionate more than those that tolerated everything, having no standards.

After a 7 year marriage is a couple ready to enter into SWINGING?
Every couple reachs several levels. after 7 years of marriage . Are some couples READY to enter into swinging with other attractive couples after such a stretch of TIME ?After a 7 year marriage is a couple ready to enter into SWINGING?
As a couple, you really need to talk with other people who have gotten into it. Find out what the pitfalls are, and there are many. I have some friends who got into that and they were ill-prepared for it. I find it's enough of a challenge to be in a relationship with one other person, let alone three other people. A relationship have to be very strong and secure to survive the potential craziness of swinging. Each extra person who comes into the relationship on an intimate level brings their own insecurities, fears, personality, wants, needs, beliefs, etc. This adds complications that were not there before. There are boundaries in swinging that have to be respected and the communication has to be open and honest. If any one person in the equation doesn't abide by this, they become the weakest link and things crumble, sometimes within the marriage as well. So if you are considering this, do your homework, communicate openly with each other, make sure you want to risk the extra complications. After a 7 year marriage is a couple ready to enter into SWINGING?
Very few couples are. The duration of a marriage doesn't have anything to do with whether or not a couple should consider the swinging lifestyle. The stability and quality of the marriage are what's to be considered. If a couple married 7 years is simply finding themselves in a rut and have the expectation that swinging will pull them out then they're on the wrong track. I can't say what the magic answer is, but I definitely can say that it shouldn't be viewed as a tool to be used to ';fix'; anything or ';add spice'; to a sex life.
I have friends who have been married for 30 years and swinging for the past 15. It works for them and they have a wonderful, loving and happy marriage. That said, they are the first people to say that it's a poor choice for most couples to enter the lifestyle. They've shared many horror stories with me and I don't doubt the truth in what they've told me. Even people in stable marriages have experienced problems after swinging. My friends have told me about several people who thought they were prepared to engage in sexual activity outside their marriage and after the fact found that they weren't. Inevitably someone becomes jealous or finds it to be more than they can handle after the fact. They won't even have anything to do with a couple if they've been in the lifestyle for less than 5-10 years. They don't want the drama and, as they tell it, there's plenty.
If there is the slightest problem in your marriage you shouldn't consider it. If you and your spouse are not both 100% on board, don't consider it. If you and your spouse are not prepared to communicate at levels you've never considered, don't do it. You'll have to be willing to share every feeling about every experience to learn boundaries and not unknowingly hurt one another. It's not a lifestyle where you can just let things slide. Take a LOT of time to talk and consider whether you're really ready for this. Only you and your spouse know whether or not you're ready, or whether you should even continue to pursue the idea. Just know that it's dangerous ground to tread on and that marriages do not survive beyond 5 more years for about 75-80% of the couples who try it.
ETA - Oh, and, as a side note. Eric D pretty much hit the nail on the head. While I've chosen not to participate in the sex part of the evenings, I have been (as a single, unattached, unmarried person) to a couple of swinger parties with my friends out of curiosity. In both cases, at different clubs, about 50% of the people there were what I would classify as average. 48% were butt ugly or obese. 2% were above average. About 75% of them were 40+ years of age. They were all, however, very understanding of the fact that I did not want to engage in sexual activity. Everyone accepted ';no, thank you'; as my response without propositioning me again and continued to be friendly afterwards.
Swinging can be a lot of fun, and actually make you closer. It requires a LOT of maturity. You must go into it with the idea, that if your partner is having a pleasurable experience, you should be happy for him/her. You will find that all couples are not all that attractive. Usually one will be attractive, and the other problematic. Skills in bed will also vary, as will preferences. You will usually find your own partner is better, and more fun. Swinging can reinforce the bond that way. If either of you ever has the slightest twinge of jealousy, don't even consider it. You can meet really interesting people, and go great places and some of the sex will be really good to. Think first. Try it a little at a time. If either of you wants to quit, do so THEN.
Good luck, we had a lot of fun for several years.
You as the couple are ready to enter the swinging lifestyle whenever you both are ready. It doesn't matter if you have been married for 6 months, 7yrs or 30yrs. What matter is, that the two of you are ready for that kind of relationship. That the two of you only sees it as sex, there will be no emotion involved with the other people. Otherwise, your marriage can go wrong, if one of you starts falling for someone else.
Warning, there are very few ';attractive'; couples who swing. Sure there are average looking couples and some BAD looking couples, but attractive? mmmm
Funny, most swinging parties that I have attended, there are very few porn-star look-a-likes. (myself included.)
hell, go for it. you can raise the standards.
Can't put a set time on it, we have been married this long so we should be ready, you either are ready to or you aren't and it's something that both of you have to be willing to do, not one doing it for the other, and the trust has to be there from both sides. Those 2 things aren't dictated by time.
Nah, it will backfire in your face sooner or later. I know a couple (my friends sis %26amp; bro in law) that started swinging thinking it would add spice to their marriage, it backfired. There were new issues resulting from trust to one being hurt because the other enjoyed the swinging sessions so much. Besides, swinging opens you up to STD's.

It all depends on the couple. How strong is your communication. I think clear communication, sincere understanding, and strong confidence are key.
If it is an option to try, I would make sure that you both agree that should one of you begin to become uncomfortable that you stop immediately. I would also make sure to openly discuss how each person is feeling through-out it.
all i can say is sick, sick ,sick.
The very thought of watching my husband with another makes my blood boil, i really don't now how you think 7 years is long enough to swing.
There are vows we take when we get married that means to be faith full to one another.
Why don't you spice your marriage by going away for the weekend do things each other and try different things with each other
You know, you are always asking questions about this. If it interests you, JUST GO DO IT!
Stop with the questions, and grow a pair.
Then we'll see you here in a year, after your marriage goes down the toilet like your morals did.
A few are although most aren't. It is a thing that each couple must consider seriously beforehand as the results could destroy the marriage if both aren't mature enough to handle it.
why would you want a dick of another man in you when you have your hubbys.....you want to watch you man screw another women? ALl this does is lead to divorece / cheating......SICK SICK SICK
It has nothing to do with the years you have been married but the maturity of the couples seeking swinging.
Theres no time limit on entering ';swinging'; Its up to them whether they feel its right or wrong, but i'd say you have to REALLY trust your partner.
I wasn't aware that there was a time limit for that. I think it would be whenever you are both ready and comfortable with the idea.
Your spouse is not some cheap date. If you two don't respect each others bodies and hold them sacred then who the hell will?
Well I can't see myself doing that now, but maybe after 7 years.. If things get boring.. I guess it could either make the marriage better, or worse.
';swinging'; is often the END of a marriage
NO, not even after 107 years
you have got to be kidding me. that is the WORST idea ever.
that's just nasty.
umm, don't do that!
ick.
that's up to you.

If you changed from AGAINST to PRO changing the definition of MARRIAGE, why?
Did someone in your family come out of the closet? Were you ostracized because of your opinion and beliefs? What happened? If you changed from AGAINST to PRO changing the definition of MARRIAGE, why?
I haven't changed. One man, one woman; marriage.
Two gay persons; legal commitment. If you changed from AGAINST to PRO changing the definition of MARRIAGE, why?
My niece ';came out'; a few years ago. He father disowned her. The rest of us still love her to pieces.
I was against gay ';marriage'; but for civil unions. I just want gay marriage to become legal so we can move on. I do find it a bit amusing that some gays, as my niece, don't feel gay ';marriage'; is necessary. She would be pleased with civil unions. In fact, the protests in California embarrassed her.
i did not ';change'; i have always felt that all people should have the same rights.... and be able to marry any adult they fall in love with.
I read this:

PSS: Thanks for fixing up that old shack. Here's your increased tax bill to fund my kids schools. If we're lucky, you own the property jointly and have it willed to your partner. That way we can slap you with 50% tax rate when one of you dies. Or even better the will gets contested, the property sold and you have to pay the family members to buy your half back and we, of course, get the sales tax money! Win/Win!

Holy Cow, you should be a Republican if you hate the notion of paying taxes for benefits granted to others, it's one of our big beefs with Democrats.

When should I tell a guy that I'm waiting until marriage to have sex?
I'm 18 years old and a virgin.I want to stay a virgin until marriage, how do I know when's the best time to tell a guy this? When should I tell a guy that I'm waiting until marriage to have sex?
well...in the beginning but not on a first date. As long as you aren't leading them on to think they are gonna get it i wouldn't spill it out right away,
whenever you feel comfortable really, thumbs up on the smart choice and good luckWhen should I tell a guy that I'm waiting until marriage to have sex?
Well what i do is i just wear a promise ring on my left ring finger, it indicates that i dont want have sex until marriage...and you never really have to awkwardly put it into conversation...because if he pays a lot of attention to you hell notice that you are always wearing it and ask you about it. But where i live its kinda a big deal and a lot of ppl have the promise rings so everyone knows what they are for...i guess it just depends on the place but that has worked for me. Good luck and congrats on wanting to stay pure! i see so much impurity on this site about sex and everything so its really nice to see another person asking such a cool question. Good luck!
It's probably best to mention it on the first date, honestly.
I'd wait until the date was nearly over if I were you, then say something like: ';Oh, there's something I need to tell you. I don't believe in sex before marriage.';
Lay your cards out straight like that and there's no possibility of misunderstanding.
It's unusual enough in the West that it's worth making it clear right at the beginning of a relationship to avoid misunderstandings.
you go girl! i think staying a virgin is very important! you should tell him right out of the gate...and if you are already involved in a relationship with someone, tell them now! if you are just starting out with someone, tell them right from the get-go. this way, if they reject you, you know they were only interested in sex. If they are cool with it, then you know that he is a good guy!
I always told them up front. Especially after my divorce. Seems to many guys felt a divorced woman must be hungry and asking. That is not true. To me sex without love and commitment is just about as much fun as push ups. But that is my own deeply held belief. I don't owe any man sex for a dinner and a movie.
Tell him now. A lot of guys may mean you all the good in the world. His intentions may be the most honorable. However, he may have tucked in the recesses of his mind that some day in the near future the two of you may engage in sexual activity. Tell him now so he knows what to expect.
Tell him if he asks. However, if you're letting him pull all of the levers and push all of the buttons, he may assume that you'll let him put the cake in the oven. I waited; you will be very glad that you did.
um.. it should be told to him like right away.. cuz guys will try anything fast...
answer mine%26gt;%26gt;
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
In the beginning of anything!
with every guy i get with i tell them how far i will go, what i like
and then see what they say.. if they dont agree theres nothing to be upset over because you didnt get in too deep
Tell him upfront. That way he already knows your expectations. Make sure you stick to your guns on this one. All men will try to take it away from you. It's a great decsion you have made
tell him as much as you love him there are thing that has to be waited till marriage, if he understand then he's truly a great man. If he make up excuse then he's just there for your body and ditch you. Good luck :)
I am waiting until marriage and if he has a problem with that then you need to move on because he is not worth your time. Tell him pretty quickly.
If you are dating someone seriously, I think you should tell him fairly quickly. Because if he's not willing to wait, then you will not have wasted your time on the wrong person.
Preferably before you have sex.
Once he's in love with your personality. That way, he'll want to wait for your body because he loved you so much :)
When he asks for sex
tell him as soon as you feel it should be told to him
Before he spends money and time on you.
well...in the beginning but not on a first date.
I'd wait until the date was nearly over if I were you, then say something like: ';Oh, there's something I need to tell you. I don't believe in sex before marriage.';

Anyone Know? Do you have to be divorced in order to get child support for a child of that marriage?
We live in PA. My daughter is in a TERRIBLY abusive relationship. She keeps telling me that she can't afford to leave her husband because she won't be able to afford her own children. Does she need to have a signed divorce in order to collect support from the children's father.Anyone Know? Do you have to be divorced in order to get child support for a child of that marriage?
Divorce in PA is notorious for giving the woman the short end of the stick. If she's serious about divorce and being financially stable, she should move to Maryland (take her children) and file there. I know of a few cases involving these two states (from both gender sides) and men win in PA (win=don't have to pay a penny), women win in Maryland (I know of a case where the woman got a divorce a long time after she left her husband and took the kids to Maryland and filed. The state of Maryland went after this guy and forced a ton of money out of him. They REALLY stick up for kids rights, well, womens rights....)
Just my experience. I can't guarantee 100% of cases but I've seen at least 3 or 4 couples go through divorce in these states, and the outcome happened to be always the same...Anyone Know? Do you have to be divorced in order to get child support for a child of that marriage?
I'm from PA and no I was not divorced and got child support.
oh my god.... f you.
She dosen't have to be divorced to receive child support.
If they've been married long enough, she may even get alimony or spousal support.
She'll leave when she's fed up. Anyone that makes excuses like this is simply not able (mentally) to leave the relationship.
Check the yellow pages for women's shelters. She may not need to go to a shelter, BUT they can give you some advice that may help you to help your daughter.
I'm terribly sorry that your family is going through this.
In Ohio you do not have to be divorced. Here you just go to Job and Family Services and apply and they will take care of it from there.
Of course not. She can apply for separate support, sometimes called a legal separation. She gets an order for him to leave the house, pay the house bills and pay child support. And if she needs it, a spousal abuse order for him to keep away from her and the children.
Get ahold of a lawyer. The first consultation is free.
The way the system is everywhere. You can not do anything that deals with this without a lawyer to protect your interests. And remember...grandparents have legal rights also.
No. All fathers must support their children. Good luck!
Not sure about Pa. In La., you do have to file for seperation. Check with an attorney.
nope you don't have to be, just go to family services or any family court.
My husband had refused to contribute to the household. i did file for child support while we were still married and living together and i won. i do live in PA.mask movie

I married my husband in a church in Cyprus, is the marriage legal in the UK?
At the time we could not afford to do the civil ceromony as well and planned to do it later. We are no longer together and I wondered if i need a divorce.I married my husband in a church in Cyprus, is the marriage legal in the UK?
All overseas marriages are recognized in UK ';IF'; the marriage was conducted according to the laws of the country where it was held. So you need to find out whether your marriage is officially recognized in Cyprus or not. If it is, then it is also valid in UK, provided you have a valid marriage certificate also.
You can also contact your local citizen advice bureau and they will guide you further.
In case you find out that your marriage is valid, then you do need to get a divorce. If you are a UK national and domiciled here or live here permanently, then you can apply to your local family court for divorce. It doesn't matter if your husband is in UK or not.
Remember ! That UK law states that you must me married for at least one year, before you can apply for a divorce.
Hope this helps.I married my husband in a church in Cyprus, is the marriage legal in the UK?
Go see a pope..
You wouldn't want to get married again with them telling you that your all ready married lol

Can my wife, who is Korean, get a working visa after marriage in USA?
I am a US citizen and my fiancee is a Korean national here on a student visa. We are getting married and I want to know if she can somehow immediately find work instead of waiting x amount of years for her green card. Can my wife, who is Korean, get a working visa after marriage in USA?
As soon as you get married, just file the paperwork to adjust her status. Her permission to work, get a ss#, and drivers license will come in 2-5 months. It will take 8 months, give or take, for the whole process to be finished and her to get the green card.
Good luck.
Belle
EDIT: Sweetdaddy....he said she was here on a student visa, so she is here legally. It also doesn't matter if she from north or south. Can my wife, who is Korean, get a working visa after marriage in USA?
Yes, but not exactly immediately. It may take a few months for
processing. After marriage the primary necessary forms are
I-130 and I-485 to be filed concurrently. For the forms and
instructions see uscis.gov.
It does not take YEARS. A few months, if she is here legally ! Is she North, or South ?
hope not too many real Americans need work

OK nice people of yahoo would you rather save yourself till marriage?
Would you rather save yourself till marriage (not for any religion purposes or anything like that) just as a self respect act and a act of showing respect to your significant other. I know I would how many think it is a good moral or idea to do that? Thanks and be honest please.OK nice people of yahoo would you rather save yourself till marriage?
Yes,I'm in my thirties and still saving it.If it's a turn off for the guys ,oh well. It's not like you have a disease to give them.If a person can't respect you,you have to respect yourself, who else is going to do that for you.Stick to your morals and don't let people be mean to you. They have to me and the more they are the better and stronger it makes me.Hope this helps!OK nice people of yahoo would you rather save yourself till marriage?
not necessarily til marriage, but i'm definitely waiting til i find the right person. i also would have to willing to handle the possible consequences and the other person would too. I'm not about to have sex with someone, risk getting pregnant and then him leave.
yes, it is morally right, but as for me its as much a religious reason as a personal reason. I only want to give that special part away to my husband on our wedding night...think of how special, how romantic, how sweet that would be to share that together.
I don't want to save myself for marriage because I have no idea when that's going to be and I don't even know if i ever will get married due to my sexuality
yes.
i'm a christian so that's what i believe plus the respect thing. gurls don't need to be given there self's away like their not special or somthing!
yeah. totally. religion and other stuff

In india what is the best way to share finances after marriage.?
The couple are working and the boy is having huge ancestral property independently.Should he share his property with wife ? Should we share income or expenses or both ?In india what is the best way to share finances after marriage.?
I think, this is about mutual understanding between husband and wife. If both are committed to run the family with four hands, they will share their finances. If the boy is the independent owner of ancestral property, the wife has an automatic right to the property too. Hence there is no need to go into legal transfer of names or legal sharing. In india what is the best way to share finances after marriage.?
the boy can share his ancestral property by gift to his wife and can also share his money by depositing it in joint a/c. but there is a question of believe on his wife. is it there ?
why????????....It's always d man..who is forced to share...
When he is already sharing his life with u...??
If wife is earning...then she should demad any share frm her husband...
U shoulb more interested in his social life dan his';Ancestral'; property...

Do you think a couples' religion is a big factor in marriage?
Do you think it's important for both husband and wife to be the same faith?Do you think a couples' religion is a big factor in marriage?
Yes. IT can hurt your marriage later, and how you raise your children. One might want to raise there children a certain way, base on there beliefs, and the other will not have it. The kids will be confuse. One person will hate that the other do not agree with what they think, and it will lead to trouble. IF both have the same faith, they will think the same way and life will be great. The kids will be fine. Trust me, i know. If i could tell people one thing about marriage, that would be, to marry someone with the same faith. Life with them would be so much easier for you and your kids.Do you think a couples' religion is a big factor in marriage?
I am happy to hear you're married and that you lead a righteous life.
In the USA, the laws would allow a divorcee to take the children and the kids can become another faith. It's a touchy scenario. If both marriage partners share the same faith, it makes it easier , also with in-laws, extended family.
No...
ye sbeing of different religions for sure take its toll
my step family is catholic and my dads family is lutheran, and since im not catholic i will no longer go to cathlic services, not only that but when i did go i didnt do all the same prayers, and other things i didnt believe.
my dad now feels the same way, and my stpe mom is upset about it....
yes marrying into another faith is NOT permitted in Christianity.
It encourages children in marriage to be brought up non-Christian and it encourages the Christian partner to be tempted from their faith or having to see sin from the non-Christian partner.
@';Do you think it's important for both husband and wife to be the same faith?';
Yes.

One man and one woman marriage.
It's only a big factor in a marriage if it's a big factor in the lives of the individuals getting married. In my marriage, it's no factor at all. It's completely irrelevant.
I think for the sake of all involved, the kids, parents and both families its a lot easier and healthier if they share the same faith. Marriage can be hard enough sometimes without adding differences in basic life beliefs.
Though having the same religious beliefs makes life much easier, there are plenty of people who don't.
It's not faith that matters most, it's respecting each other regardless.
Equally ';Yoked'; is always easier on the marriage.

Yes.
Amos 3:3

If a couple is meant to be together, they will open mindedly respect the others beliefs.

How can I want marriage and love when I been so burned ?
I want to to have the need to marry one day but the fear I wont keeps me kind of down. Every man I have dealt with so far were typical guys who made me feel they only wanted se.x nothing real. How do I get the feeling back of wanting to marry one day. I fear this negativity (brought on by negative male experiences) will keep me alone? How can I want marriage and love when I been so burned ?
I used to feel that way when I was younger. I hated men because of my bad relationship with my father. I am now 32 and I've had a number of relatioships. Some were OK some were very bad. I could blame the men but what's the point? When bad experiences happen to us we have to take a step back and learn a lesson and not repeat it in future. And the fear? I learnt that by holding onto fear I was letting it win and control me. But I wanted to enjoy my life and continue dating men so you have to hold onto hope and keep going. You can't let fear and being burned rule your life. Don't let the past stop you from making a happier future for yourself.
Take things slowly and don't rush things with a guy that you like. Be realistic about his character and your compatability. If you're not sure don't take it further. But hang onto hope and keep dating and I hope in time you meet someone nice, and someone who can restore your faith in marriage. It's still a wonderful thing to want to get married so don't let your crappy past boyfriends stop you from believing in something. Their gone. Just be choosy about who you let into your life in future and test men more carefully. Take care :)How can I want marriage and love when I been so burned ?
It's up to you. The men you attract and deal with are based off what you're putting out there. If you're looking for a real relationship, don't settle for anything less. When it becomes apparent that a man is only interested in sex, stop dealing with him. You can't change him so you'd only be wasting your time to continue with him. Make a list of the qualities you want as well as the ones you absolutely cannot put up with. Once you know what you want, it's a lot easier to see it when it's in front of you.
You're outlook on life is strictly up to you. So get out there and shake those losers and find someone worth your time.
Been there, done that, more than once, and got 5 t shirts. What do you do after the broken heart. I thought I would never find the right one, or anyone who loved me for me and did not have a gimmic or something up their sleeve. I felt hopeless and many times would cry because I felt i would die old and alone, with a bunch of cats, really, no bullshit. I can't promise that the one will come to you, but I can tell you that, there are good men out there. Good men that will treat you well and not break your heart. Finding him can be a MF, but once you found him, all the past hurts, and pains seem as if they have never exsisted. You won't even too much remember the pain of them. Good Luck Little Lady.
Keep looking , and make your boundaries clear from the beginning. The right one will stick around while the others will eventually fall away.
Big J is right. Date a guy that you normally wouldn't be attracted to and you might find you are very attracted to him. I am more attracted by how a man treats me than the way he looks. Looks come and go but the way he treats me will be what I live with.
When you meet the right man you will know!
I knew on the first date with my now wife! ! !
13 happy years and going strong.
Try dating guys you wouldn't normally date.
Just don't get married
Stop dating a ssholes?
you will just know when you meet the right one
why don't you try a dating service?

Do you think gay marriage/civil unions will become legal in the United States and how long before it occurs?
Many basic rights taken for granted today were illegal and very unpopular in the not too distant past (interracial marriage, women voting) and were also labeled as blasphemy and against the word of God. Many of us find it hard to believe that the vast majority of people at those times were against these basic rights. Do you think we will view gay marriage/equality in this same light 100 years from now?Do you think gay marriage/civil unions will become legal in the United States and how long before it occurs?
i dont get the whole thing, about giving gays, such a hard time about getting married. this country has gone to the dogs. it has no morals, anything goes. the way i look at it is, as long as its not hurting anybody, its not going to cost us anything. whats wrong with it?our goverment has no problem with keeping up all these illegals up, to me thats worst than, letting gays get married. but what do i know, i just work and pay taxes?Do you think gay marriage/civil unions will become legal in the United States and how long before it occurs?
I certainly hope it becomes legal and soon. I am 60, and I would be thrilled if it would happen before I or my partner dies. Unfortunately, we are in a political climate right now where the conservative party (Republicans) have become afraid of the fundamentalist right wing church, and are controlled by them. I find it really sad, because until this decade I had been a supporter of the Republican Party and found them fiscally conservative. But they have really turned around. Not only are they controlled by the folks mentioned above, they have become spenders supreme, and have lost all fiscal responsibility. I believe if we can change the political tide in November and in 2008, we will see progress and reason in this area. If not, it will be a long road. The powers that be are more interested in staying in power by promoting legal bigotry and discrimination.
I'll leave the legal arguments alone; yes, we'll have same-sex marriage within about 10-20 years .... it's a generational issue ... and the younger folks in our country just simply don't get freaked out by gays and other ';sexual outlaws';
I hope not. I think eventually America will become more accepting, as it has in the past. I hope that eventually people will be people, no matter what they look like or who they sleep with. The point about basic rights we take for granted now is a good one. Let's just hope history continues that trend.
I am appalled by the idea that a woman can marry a woman!!! To me you can't get any sicker!!! I will never give in to the idea of gay marriage, but I'm afraid that it's already done it's damage. The morals of our country will never me the same. But I'll tell you one thing, I will never think of it as ';Right';!!!
First this is not any constitutional right, sexual preference is not protected nor should it ever be,
There is no comparison between women and interracial to perverted sexual acts, trying to make that comparison is first silly and next a real harm to the actual civil rights movement in our nation.
No, I forsee homosexual relatoinships being banned completely latter on.
Friar Chuck and Pokadots and many others above have missed one of the fundamental issues involved. Same-sex marriage has nothing to do with sex. And homosexual relations has nothing to do with marriage.
Is it legal in most US states for two people -- a man and a woman -- to get married and never have sex? Absolutely. Sexual relations is not a requirement to get a marriage license. And before Conservatives go point to those cases where a marriage was annulled because of no sexual relations, the actual legal grounds were fraudulent inducement. Not lack of sex.
So, two people (man and woman) can get married for the legal and financial benefits without ever having sex. And the biggest opposition that religious and conservative folks have over same-sex marriage appears to be the homosexual sexual relations aspect.
So, if two straight men, who will never have sex and will never kiss in public (or private) want to get married, for the legal and tax benefits, the Religious Conservatives shouldn't have a problem, right? I mean, nothing in the Bible says that two men cannot be involved in a financial partnership. Or gain other legal benefits through a government registration process. And we're talking about straight men, not gays, so there's no homosexual relations problem? So what's the problem? Do any of the religious arguments against same-sex marriage apply when sex is taken completely out of the question? No ';perverted sex acts'; as some have said, so no problem, right?
If not, then the only justification for denying same-sex couples the legal benefits of state-sanction monogamy is religious prejudice. And any religion that is so hypocritical that it says ';love thy neighbor, as long as they don't do anything you don't like'; I really feel sorry for.
The Supreme Court has already said that homosexual relations in private between consenting adults is none of the government's business. Lawrence v. Texas. That's not going to change, no matter how conservative a court the Republicans get appointed. And the Supreme Court has already said that marriage is a fundamental right, and that right includes choosing your spouse. Loving v. Virginia. And absent some religious/moral issue (for example, taking sex itself out of the equation) that's not going to change either.
So, the perfect test case is two straight people of the same gender who want to get married, for the legal benefits. Because then, homosexual conduct isn't an issue. And we're back to pure gender-based discrimination based on religious prejudice.
And anyone who tries to enforce religious prejudice through laws has forgotten the reason this country was founded in the first place.
I think that Gay marriages should be allowed.. So many times you see a gay person who married a straight person just to look ';normal'; they then live a lie of a marriage because one is not hetero. If gays want to marry let them. Its not hurting anyone.
The gay marriage issue is mostly a Karl-Rove-inspired idea to get religious conservatives who otherwise don't vote out to the polls to stick it to the gays. Ten years ago 90+% of us didn't want gay marriage. Two years ago it was just over 60%. Now it's just over half. In 2008 those who are against gay marriage will be in the minority.
In response to poster above, in Vermont two straight guys have already gotten a civil union.
I think it will become legal, probably within the next 10 years.
I don't really know -- But I'm sure the liberals will keep pushing until they get what they want.
In a hundred years liberals will have every thing made legal. You can have sexual intecourse with your dog or your dog can have it with you--all sorts of things we consider repulsive today will be commonplace.
But hey, I won't be here to see it.

How do you survive marriage sucessfully?
it sounds kinda scary... Im totally comittment phobic. how do you make it work? How do you survive marriage sucessfully?
Communication -respect- trust if in the relationship those fact doesn;t appear i dont think it can surviveHow do you survive marriage sucessfully?
You shouldn't have to survive marriage. If you are commitment phobic that just means that you haven't found a person that you want to spend the rest of your life with yet. When you find the person that is right for you just make sure that you have a lot of the same values in life. Make sure that you fully trust each other and have an idea of how you want to live. If you differ on some things that's okay and can be overcome but there are probably some things that you wouldn't change for the world and just make sure that the other person is willing to accept that. It's all about give and take!
Marriage is a scary venture. I don't blame you for feeling the way you do!!! I don't know if I've survived marriage successfully--it's had lots of bumps and bruises. I think in the beginning of the relationship things are usually very good. As time goes on, you start to worry about things like increased arguing, bouts of lack of trust, and in general just trying to get used to each other's habits.
You know what is a good lesson to learn? Your spouse loves you. I know that seems pretty simple, but if someone marries you, they love you. When you deal with all the drudgery of everyday life and you handle all the garbage that you need to handle, it's hard to lose the fact that there is love.
How do you survive life successfully?? you dont, you just live it and hope that the choices you make are the right ones.
to ';survive'; marriage its the same sort of thing, marry the person that fits you best. talk problems through and dont jump to conclusions, you are not at every time in your life or marraige going to be happy. marriage like life has alot of ups and downs, its a roller coaster ride you can only hope that your partner is there for this crazy life as well.
The biggest mistake people make with marriage is rushing in before they are ready. Make sure you choose the right person for oyu. You need someone that has had enough life experience that there not going to want to go out and run around on you or make stupid mistakes all the time to cause fights. You need chemistry and good communication. It also helps to have similar intrests and beliefs. I am not saying you have to like everything they do but you have to be able to sustain the relationsip for a long time without wanting someone else.
Marriage is not 50/50 like people say. It is 100/100. Both people have to be willing to give it 100% all of the time. It can be very hard, but it can also be so very easy. It is scary because you just never know what is going to happen. When you're ready you'll know it, and if you choose wisely and treat kindly you'll be just fine.
You don't look at is something you need to survive. Communication, laughter, sex, love, trust are all important.
You need to figure out why you are so scared. Marriage is not for everyone. It is okay if you don't want to get married.
Well get over your commitment phobia is a start. Having a phobia about commiting to a person is only going to make the marriage rocky and more than likely it won't survive.
You make it sound like you're on a desert island with one bottle of water and a wet book of matches.
Get real. It's up to you how it goes. If you can't communicate your likes and dislike and take control of your destiny then join a convent.
Communication. I am happily married, 18 years. Any time that my husband and I had any problems, it was because of lack of communications. Saying what you feel makes all the difference in the world.
You survive a car wreck or a bout with a disease.....lol. You have to be ready for marriage. It takes work on both sides. Communication is the big thing.
A wise man sees danger and hides himself, a fool rushes in.
I don't know, great question. so far I have not survived my marriage at all, I'm more like some kind of freaking ';disaster survivor';.
Be well.
You'll need a lifejacket, a swiss knife and basic survival training.

Obviously, your very hurt and are kicking yourself because you've known all along that this was a defect. Been there.
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and do something about it. Talk to him about it, get yourself some counseling, or surrender. Either way, it your decision. Good luck. What is the average percentage of ungrateful bastard husbands in the marriage society today?
Hi Jay Jay,
I think you need to vent to a therapist. I'm guessing in your world it's 100%, but then again I have a penis so that makes me one of those husbands you tell about. Guilty by gender perhaps! ; ) Girl it will get better but in the meantime please hide all you kitchen knives for the sake of all penis bearing humans.
Im grateful for what marriage provides.
1. consistent sex
2. kids
3. a dual income
4. ummm....other stuff I guess
5. ???

But then there's the drawbacks.

5. no side action to infinity
So the drawbacks win!

The only ungrateful ones that I know have stay at home wives. The real question is what percentage of marriages have the husband as the sole provider=there's your answer.
Well, about 50% of marriages end in divorce and not all of this is the man's fault so I figure it's about 40% that are affected.
Takes 2 to make a failed marriage.
Some days 100%. Some days 0%.
Same goes for ungrateful, bitchy wives.
I always ask myself ';would I want to come home to me?';
Judging from the answers and questions in M%26amp;D, I'd say the number is up there in the high nineties.

If you wear a signet ring on your ring finger, does it mean you have to have sex after marriage?
This girl at my school told me that if you wear your signet ring on your left hand, ring finger, you are giving up your virginity to your parents until marriage.
Is this true?If you wear a signet ring on your ring finger, does it mean you have to have sex after marriage?
Interesting ambiguity:
[you have to have s** after marriage]
The deontic modal can take scope over either of two segments according to the following parsings:
1) 'HAVE TO' [have s** after marriage]
or
2) 'HAVE TO HAVE S***' [after marriage]
yielding two distinct interpretations, although horny young estupidos will be more keenly interested in one of these, while more or less satisfied married couples will be concerned with the other.
Way to go, kids, you're learning to think ahead (no pun).

What happens if you marry someone in the military just to get their benefits and it is a fraudulant marriage?
Sorry if you marry someone usually that means you have to get in front of a judge and say ';I do.'; So if you are telling us that you two did that, then there is no fraudulant marriage. If someone made the certificate and it is not filed at the court house, then, yes, it is probably a fraudulant marriage. Sorry defrauding the government is a serious offence and should be punished. Good luck, SSG SchrammWhat happens if you marry someone in the military just to get their benefits and it is a fraudulant marriage?
Don't say that to anyone. Don't look at it that way. If you think you can put up with the person, travel the world. I mean really travel the world. I'm prior military and my husband is has 20 months left in the navy. We met in guam when we both were active duty and then I followed him from guam, to italy, then to japan, than to texas. We got divorced but I ended up remarrying him for the time being for the health benifits and so I have a little extra money to live on while I use my last year of the G.I. Bill. Stick with them, you may possibly end up falling in love. You never know. What happens if you marry someone in the military just to get their benefits and it is a fraudulant marriage?
Marriage is void since it is fraudulent and no benefits will be received.
This happens everyday in the military and in the civilian world. Not much you can do unless the military member admits something and that will never happen. It will always be your word against theirs.
If the benefit that is being looked for is to gain entry into the United States or American citizenship then it would be a legal violation of the law for both of you, in or out of the military, and would be a fraudulent marriage and could be annulled/revoked by a court. If you are both US citizens and the benefits are ';normal spousal benefits'; then it may be wrong and unethical but it is not a violation of law. People get married for many reasons in the military and civilian life-Get away from home/parents being very common in both for the younger people or get out of the barracks for military. During wartime some females, not sexist here just that this was done some in WW2 and Viet Nam and most people going over were male so it was primarily females doing this, have married service people going overseas into combat and then divorced them if they survive and come back before looking for another to marry.
If the military person is aware of the situation and is also using it to benefit from it (using the marriage to get a higher housing allowance or to qualify for seperation pay) they could be convicted of fraud, prosecuted by the military, recieve a dishorable discharge and serve time in a federal prison as well as having to pay back any funds recieved under the fradulant terms. The military coulde prosecute the civilian as an accessory to the fact if the person agreed to the marriage for the purpose of defrauding the military. These would be federal charges and the civilian would also face the possiblity of serving time in a federal jail, facing the long term consequneces of having a federal conviction on their record and could also be responsible for reimbursing the military for any monies received as a result of the fraud. Plus it is just plain unethical, immoral and a huge insult to the military members and families who live the life for all the right reasons. Is the guilt and the very real chance of federal prosecution worth it?
If the marriage is consumated it's legal, but the motive is unethical.
How is it fraud when you marry them?
YES, the Marriage is Fraudulent ...
I'm a Military Retiree, and have seen this happen with those I supervised who were duped into marrying some civilian (after deployments -- where one is especially vulnerable) ... and the only reason this person married the military servicemember is for the servicemember's benefits and salary (because they knew they were gone a lot -- so they were able to keep doing abominable things behind the back of the military servicemember -- including having affairs).
When caught -- unfortunately -- there are a lot of divorce court judges out there who have a complete lack of understanding and ...
I do get VERY UPSET, Angry and am definitely appalled by these predatory civilians who marry, divorce, marry higher up the rank structure, and then divorce again ... all in the name of gaining further portions of the servicemember's salary.
When this can be proven (like they have a track record of multiple marriages where their only concern was benefits and seizure of the servicemember's salary (a %)), then this PROOF can be brought into court -- and used as evidence.
I, personally, as a FEMALE Retired Servicemember, do PROTECT MY EARNED Military Benefits ... and that is why I LIVE ALONE and REFUSE to fall for any of these scams. I did have a short disaster of a marriage (to an abusive, violent sociopath -- from which two disabled children were born) ... and whose ex DID Try to get HIS claws into MY Earned Benefits (I divorced while on Active Duty) .. and ... luckily for me ... I walked into court and (despite the attorney's advice), made sure that the JUDGE (over more than a decade past the divorce of challenges that this ex did) knew that these were MY Benefits and NOT The ex's! As a result -- MY earned Military Retirement is MY OWN ... (and this is also an ex who never provided anything for the children -- who are now independently living adults).
I do stay in contact with my Senators/Representatives to keep this type of situation in mind, and to advocate for changes so that Military Members can be protected from this type of predation! Personally .. I advocate for not only changes in the law, but also to have instituted FEDERAL prison sentences for this type of FRAUD.
Are both individuals in the military? If so, then they can both be charged with larceny, failure to obey an order/regulation, falsifying official documents, and can be kicked out of the military.
If only one person is in the military, the service member can be charged under the UCMJ (federal offence) and the civilian charged under federal statutes.
That happened to a person I know, he was an E-6 then they busted him down to a e-5. and made him wear dungarees and be under house arrest for like 3 months. It probably hurt his chances to ever become a chief. I think his stupid wife told on him after they got into a big fight
From the UCMJ:
A)makes or uses any writing or other paper knowing it to contain false or fraudulent statements;
(B) makes any oath to any fact or to any writing or other paper knowing the oath to be false; or
(C) forges or counterfeits any signature upon any writing or other paper, or uses any such signature knowing it to be forged or counterfeited;
Fraud is fraud...period.
You get arrested, you pay the money back to the government, you get convicted, you get rightfully DD. After you get out of jail, you go work for McDonalds.
I hope the greedy little brat gets throw in prison with a roommate that looks like Jr. Samples from HEE HAW!

There is nothing the military can do if both people agree to get married and have a valid marriage certificate. If the military member finds out and annuls the marriage, the benefits stop and they move on with their lives.
If you can prove it, yes. Get an annulment.
Nothing if you stayed married to them and you dont tell anyone?Thats pretty fucke* up though to do that to not only someone but take advantage of the military's benefits like that!

Did the Elizabethans audience from Romeo and Juliet agree on arrange marriage?
I am reading the story by Shakespeare and Juliet's parents wants her to marry Paris which means this is a arrange marriage would the Elizabethans audience be shocked or would they agree on arranged marriage?Did the Elizabethans audience from Romeo and Juliet agree on arrange marriage?
In Elizabethan times, it was strange for a marriage not to be arranged. The main thing the audience would be shocked at is the way Juliet argues against her father - the Elizabethan Chain of Being determined that girls were the property of their fathers until they were married, at which time they'd become property of their husbands.Did the Elizabethans audience from Romeo and Juliet agree on arrange marriage?
Arranged marriage was the way of life. They would have found Romeo's and Juliet's disobedience more shocking and scandalous. Girls were chattel to be used to gain favor, bring in money (girls nearly always marry up), tie two families together, keep the land and fortunes within the same family circle, bring political gain or alliance. A man running off with someone's unwed daughter could easily end up on a gibbet for grand theft and damage to property.
Here is a good link on this subject:

that never even crossed my mind while reading romeo and juliet. but yeah, i'm pretty sure the audience wouldn't have been shocked at the arranged marriage between paris and juliet.
btw, i love your ';additional detail'; i laughed. :D
Arranged marriage among the upper class would have been typical. So, that would have been an acceptable plot point.
no aranged marriges were common during elizabethan times

How widespread is the marriage strike?
In case anyone didn't know, there's a growing movement of men refusing to marry to avoid the perils of no-fault divorce and being taken for all their worth undr legal systems that declare him guilty until proven innocent.
What I want to know is: does it extend beyond the English speak countries? Has there been any media attention on it?How widespread is the marriage strike?
I know from personal experience and research I've done into it for my college honors project that it does indeed seem to be spreading to all areas of the western world, not just English speaking areas, and with good reason. For the most part men get seriously screwed in 95% of divorces so you can understand why no man wants to marry these days, especially since there are no serious social implications to getting everything you used to have to be married to get outside of marriage these days. I personally am on the marriage strike myself after being screwed over myself in a divorce. I guess that makes me somewhat biased but the facts are the facts regardless. I'm sure this will dig up the flames, but any reasonable person knows the reality. How widespread is the marriage strike?
i dont know about the strike, but i am wondering what country you are from that has courts 'screwing' men who divorce. i am a divorced woman, and my husband came out financially better off than me, even though he left me for another woman. and- i know lots of other women who received no special consideration for being female. if anyone is striking, it is me,along with many other ladies who are happier single.
Those men better not tell the women they're dating about it or they cant probably forget about sex, lol.
there is a long standing ';strike'; or shirking of responsibility among certain racial groups in some countries.
I googled the marrige strike.

Found some interesting stuff on askmen.com
Every single one of us has made mistakes with women. We've been conned, duped and dazed by physical attraction. We've made fools of ourselves by kissing the feet of females who treated us like dirt. We've wasted countless hours and spent small fortunes chasing after women who lied to us and used us, and turned out to be rotten.
But do we learn from our experiences? No. Every time we think it's going to be different. We think if we just try harder, or do one little thing differently, the result will change.
Well, it's not going to change. If you keep pursuing the same kind of woman, you'll just get your heart broken over and over again.
Keep a watchful eye out for the following list of women, and you'll be one step closer to curing yourself of habitual *****-dating:
1- Miss Feminist
This woman postulates that all the ills of society are orchestrated by men and the best thing a man can do to improve himself is cut off his testicles and grow a pair of ovaries. She believes that women are angelic creatures who would make the world a utopia if only the male ';patriarchy'; would allow them to. Any woman who promotes these absurdities lives in a fantasy world and will have no problem at all treating a man in a way that she would never herself abide by. You can easily identify her by her incessant mantra, ';All men think with their penises.'; Avoid her at all costs.
2- Miss Take
She's out for your money -- pure and simple. Miss Take is the ultimate in high maintenance. She expects a man to finance her entire life just because she is biologically female. To her, a man should pay for drinks, dinners, trips, flowers, and jewelry, while she feels absolutely no guilt or compulsion to reciprocate. She is nothing but a whitewashed prostitute. Miss Take thinks her vagina is plated with gold and is worth a million dollars. She is greed personified. Since she has no concept of someone else's feelings, her only interest is in getting what she wants. And don't be fooled -- some apparently very ';nice'; girls are the greediest of them all.
3- Miss Romance
This type of woman lives in a fantasy world of Lifetime Channel movies and romance novels. Every night she goes home alone to spend hours flipping through her bride magazines, imagining that, at any moment, Prince Charming will ride up on his white horse, sweep her off her feet, and offer her a problem-free existence for the rest of her life. The Miss Romances of the world have been coddled by parents and family, told they are ';princesses,'; and have absolutely no idea that real life consists of paying bills and cleaning toilets. Miss Romance will expect to be taken care of, will be a dud in bed, and will, almost overnight, turn into a shrieking nag. Run.
4- Miss Elusive
This woman is closely allied to Miss Romance, but with a dark side. She is usually one of the ';walking wounded'; -- someone who has been hurt in past relationships and so subconsciously avoids or sabotages new relationships in the present. Your association with her will be one of utter frustration, as first she shows great interest in you, but very quickly runs away -- then repeats this cycle over and over again. Miss Elusive is the queen of mixed messages. She will flirt with you and date you, but you'll never get past ';friend'; status. What you will get is a million excuses for her unavailability, all calculated to deceive herself that she just doesn't have time for a relationship. Save yourself some heartache -- don't get involved with her.
5- Miss Angry
Like Miss Feminists, Miss Angrys really don't like men. They scorn the male gender and can rattle off all the wrongs and misdeeds of every man they've ever encountered. To Miss Angry, there's no such thing as a nice guy -- they're all ';jerks,'; ';creeps'; and ';pigs.'; Many of them have lots of simmering anger at men, which can explode at any moment like an erupting volcano. Unless you're into lots of drama and screaming, stay away.
6- Miss Insecure
This woman seems great at the start because she's very nice, accommodating and treats men well. But her inner insecurities don't take long to surface. Pretty soon she's calling you 10 times a day, asking to see ';where the relationship is going,'; or because she ';just wants to hear your voice.'; She needs constant reassurance that she's attractive, and worries incessantly about her makeup, hair and the alignment of her clothes. She's clingy, needy and compulsively agonizes that you're going to leave her at any moment for ';someone better.'; This kind of thing can get really creepy really fast.
7- Miss *****
Miss Bitches are the sulkers, pouters and ball-busters of the female world. They are very unpleasant people who treat their fellow humans poorly, care only about themselves, and aren't concerned at all if they hurt you or anybody else. Most Miss Bitches qualify as Miss Takes, too. Miss Bitches are usually good-looking and well dressed, and you can easily identify them by the scowls on their faces as they imperiously strut through the world.
8- Miss Me
A close relative of Miss *****, Miss Me is entirely focused on herself. Miss Me needs to be the constant center of attention no matter what she does or where she goes. She is a selfish, self-indulgent, self-serving narcissist who was raised as ';daddy's little girl,'; and expects the same from you. Unless you enjoy the company of spoiled brats, stay far, far away.
9- Miss Desperate
Whether it's her baby clock ticking or she's the last of her girlfriends to trap a man, Miss Desperate wants to get married -- now. She doesn't care who the guy is or what he does -- as long as he's got a penis she can drag him to the altar. Watch out for this one!
10- Miss Turncoat
She's a conniving little piece of work who's an expert at conning men. Miss Turncoat will tell you exactly what you want to hear until you're hooked deep into the relationship (or married) and then the truth comes out. Overnight, your sweet little girl turns into a demanding, greedy, mercenary harpy who will browbeat you into submission if she doesn't get her way.
11- Miss Tease
Usually, you can spot Miss Teases a mile away because she flirts with anything in pants and flaunt her sexuality at every opportunity. Sometimes she sponges off older men; sometimes she's a ball-buster who enjoys getting men sexually excited and then walking away; and sometimes she just basks in her sexual power by attracting men like bees to honey. No matter how she operates, you can't trust her because she craves male attention and if somebody better comes along, she'll dump you in a heartbeat.
12- Miss Controlling
She is a subtly nasty one who will wind up directing every phase of your life. She will tell you what to wear, where to go, who to talk to, what friends you can have, what you can eat -- everything. And if you try to stand up for yourself, she will cut off sex, cry, scream, pout, or use any other deceptive female tactic until you give in and succumb to her demands.
What I want to know is: does it extend beyond the English speak countries? Has there been any media attention on it?How widespread is the marriage strike?

How is same sex marriage ';taught'; in schools?
As Maine has now become the fifth state to legalize same sex marriage (go Maine!), the religious and right wing zealots are complaining they object (for one reason) because they do not want same sex marriage ';taught'; in schools. Can someone explain what it means to ';teach'; marriage in school? I have attended school from kindergarten through college and was never ';taught'; heterosexual marriage. Just looking for clarification - thanks. How is same sex marriage ';taught'; in schools?
This is a ';scare'; tactic that has been used to frighten people into voting against same sex marriage. It was used to great effect in California's Prop H8 campaign. It's a favorite tactic of the christian right.
It's nothing more that a ';straw man'; tactic like the fascist totalitarian governments used in 1900's to set up false threats. It helps fascists gain or retain control and facilitates oppression of minorities. How is same sex marriage ';taught'; in schools?
Well, even if they were to teach gay marriage in schools it wouldn't be such a problem. Scientifically, kids are being raced in a same sex couple environment have no influence on what life partner they child will grow up to chose. It could be quite interesting to see that being taught in schools.
i am still in school and they have never taught us marriage either. i agree with people stating that the reason they complain is that they don't want their kids growing up thinking its ok to be gay. people who complain about same-sex marriage will use any excuse to try and block it.
Well for example the children could be read a book about two males in love at reading time. I know the fundies got in a real huff about that. Really though, I think what they're saying is they don't want their children attending a school that tells them it's okay to be gay.
I think it's their ';nice'; way of saying that they don't want their children growing up thinking that it's okay to be gay.
marriage straight or gay should not be taught in schools
The only way it was taught was bringing up court cases in justice systems that's about it. for me where I live
I don't think it is. Maybe the subject is touched on in Health class.
well, seeing as how you can't really have ';sex'; with two same-gender people without them getting an STD, i'm not sure how same-sex sex ed would work.mask movie

Can a photocopy for a birth certificate work in getting a marriage license?
my fiancee does not have an original birth certificate, however she has photocopies of it, we're planning on obtainning our marriage license soon and she can't get an original copy again because she is undocumented, can the photocopy of the original work as proof of age? by the way we're getting the license in new york state..Can a photocopy for a birth certificate work in getting a marriage license?
No. Your illegal alien fiance must produce a certified copy of her birth certificate. Can a photocopy for a birth certificate work in getting a marriage license?
A copy of a birth certificate will not work. The original is needed.
Look at NY states gov. web site. Your attention should be focused on the county you plan to wed in as the county is who issues and records the wedding records. The state only determines what the ID requirement is in order to apply for the license. Click on the link that deals at the state and county level .org marriage license requirements as each state is different. It will advise as to the requirements. In the current state of affairs with homeland security, my best guess is that if your fianci is undocumented, she can marry but most states do not accept photo copies of birth certificates. Cruise lines will not even accept birth certificate copies ( originals are required ). The paper itself does not prove her identity. That's the key, she must be able to ';validate'; her identity.
A birth certificate isn't usually needed a drivers license will be fine..
