Is marriage truly a necessity to co-habitation and domestic partnership in this day and age?

Marriage has never been a necessity. Prior to Christianity many people cohabitated happily and monogamously. Marriage became the best option after laws were enacted making married people privy to benefits and aid not given to others. Keeping up with the Jones'. If you wanted the help of a church or a government up to about 20 years ago, they would ignore and possibly shame a couple with children if there was no marriage license. Therefore, marriage was only needed to avoid discrimination.Is marriage truly a necessity to co-habitation and domestic partnership in this day and age?
A marriage opens the partnership to the community and greater, to God to show the best way. Separation from these has exacerbated marriages that leaves their children stranded.Is marriage truly a necessity to co-habitation and domestic partnership in this day and age?
i would like to think so...when your married i think you try harder to make it work versus just walking away
