What can I do to legalize gay marriage in Japan?

I live in Japan, and I often hear that in USA, some states allow gays to marry.

and currently Japan the country does not allow gay marriage.

I want to know how gay people in USA fought to get the right.

Is there anything I can do to change the world?

Please help.

FYI, I don't need any gay phobic comments, ok?What can I do to legalize gay marriage in Japan?
Your best bet right now would be to focus on visibility.

I know that it can be exciting to see other countries enacting laws, and you should fight for them in your own country- of course!- but at the same time, our situations are different.

Marriage in America is viewed considerably differently as it is in Japan. While the two are obviously more similar than they are dissimilar, I think few people realize how much of a huge bureaucratic endeavor it is to get married in Japan, and what it means- not just the joining of two people in love, as it is in America, but the literal joining of two families, two massive ancestries, all in public record, coming together. It's a big deal, and it has far-reaching implications that simply extend beyond the normal new family ties created by an American wedding.

The Japanese, as a society, take family pretty seriously (as an institution, that is). Even though it's certainly become a lot more modern, in terms of romantic love and marrying for yourself, there is still an understanding that everybody should get married and ultimately have children- that is the indicator of success here. Gay people in Japan have a significant disadvantage as being seen as ';unproductive'; in this capacity- they do not (generally) have children, they do not conform to the family model, they do not contribute to society by raising up children, and this, along with the aforementioned seriousness of the public record of marriage, is going to make it hard to get gay marriage approved.

GLBT folks in Japan still have large issues with invisibility, and, as always, the first step truly is making people aware that you're there. That's the first step.

Good luck! What can I do to legalize gay marriage in Japan?
Well, I live in Italy and in Italy we don't have gay marriages :( Anyway I can tell you that each state has different legislations. I think you should read exactly Japan laws about marriage, and try to propose a new law. Don't you have LGBT organization, in Japan? Try to be all together, and fight for your right! :)
I would suggest making a Gay Pride stand like they do here in the States and as well take it on with the people over there that handle the law an make it clear that also gay people have the right to be married as well as straight.
Honestly, if you get that done. Ill love you forever, I love asian woman. =]
