Will natural selection eventually solve the gay marriage issue for us?

And if so, why has the ';gay gene'; not been weeded out already?

Your thoughts? Will natural selection eventually solve the gay marriage issue for us?
Because it's not a gene, it's a biochemical irregularity when they're developing in the womb.

As long as we're placental mammals, there will be homosexuals. Will natural selection eventually solve the gay marriage issue for us?
There is no anatomical or mental inferiority of gay people. Natural selection eliminates those which are not fit to survive, but since being gay does not increase or reduce your chances of survival (STDs aside), natural selection does not eradicate them. Furthermore, being homosexual is not genetic, and if it was, homosexuals would have ceased to exist as soon as they came about because they generally do not reproduce.
Assuming that homosexuality is a genetic trait, it's likely to be a recessive. Meaning that anyone could carry the gene, but it will only express when that person mates with another recessive-carrier, and the right chromosomes line up.

There are lots of traits that you would think would be weeded out, but because they lurk in the genome, they keep popping up.
No.

Homosexuality is not caused by any one single isolated gene, just like heterosexuality is not caused by any one isolated gene. It is more the result of multiple genetic combinations. Technically, it is a genetic mutation, and a very common one. The genetic causation is such that it does not have to be hereditary as the genes governing sexuality mutate very easily. That is why homosexuality is surprisingly common among humans as well as a variety of other animal species.
Let me first off say that I am not gay, but do believe in gay rights. Natural selection will not ';weed out'; the gays. Natural selection, if you believe in it, lets the animals best adapted for the environment survive and lets the weaker die. Homosexuals are no more weaker than heterosexuals, therefore, they will continue to live on.
people will come to their own conclusion about gay marriage. personally, I'm curious to know whether a gay marriage can last longer than a few years, it seems to degrade the institution of marriage, but in any case, it won't change my view that marriage *is* between a man and a woman.
Does a ';gene'; cause heterosexuality? I don't know.

Gay people have existed since the beginning of time and we will exist till the end of time. God has seen to it that we are present in every time, place and culture. We don't even need to reproduce--heterosexuals create us. There will be no ';weeding out,'; because God wants us here, period.
you know what will solve most problems we face???ELIMINATING HATRED IN ANY FORM.

Hate is what causes to people to act like savages not homosexuality.

Get rid of this hate that you have towards gay for whatever reason whether religious or cultural. It MUCH easier to love someone then hate them and it takes A lot LESS energy.
There is actually no ';gay gene'; so it isn't going to be eradicated through natural selection. It is influenced by testosterone and oestregen exposure during pregnacy and obviously by upbringing. If anything the numbers of homosexuals will increase due to greater public acceptance.
MAybe it will solve the problem of stupid irresponsible c*nts having kids and letting them rot in foster care while they shoot meth and collect welfare as gay people adopt not add more children to an over populated world!

and I am a Catholic Republican so cut the sh*t! Has f*ck all to do with religion or politics, stereotyping rubes!
It's been shown that sisters and brothers of gay men tend to have more children than average. So if there is a ';gay'; gene it may be linked to greater reproductivity in one's genetic relations. Hence, natural selection would tend to favor it.
the gay gene is only a hypothesis at this point in time.

so theoretically speaking, the 'gay gene' has been passed on through human society because homosexuality is often viewed as wrong and evil, so the homosexuals entered into hetero relationships and had children.
Actually, the gay gene exists in part because of the church. If you hadn't been forcing gay people to get married to members of the opposite sex, it would be much more uncommon. Oh, and heterozygous people helped too.
Unfortunately, we have become a society that has turned away from God. We have openly rebuked the Lord by telling others he does not exist. We think of homosexuality as the norm. We love money. We talk to spirits. We want proof of God without accepting him by faith.

I don't know about you my friend, but we need to reconcile ourselves back to God. Obey his commandments because the wrath of God is coming. Submit to him.
Gay people can have or adopt children. You make it seem that homosexuality is a disease of some sort.

@ deepeaceful: PET scans say different (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con…
LOL.! I bet way in the past they were few and far between.

What I don't get is why I am considered homophobic merely because I am not GAY and a Christian? Sheesh talk about predjudice.

Good question by the way.

God bless.:)
Homosexuality is a by product of something that improves female infertility :) So homosexuality comes from the mother. Natural, and fine.
i didn't realise there was an issue. most decent, non judgemental people accept gay marriage and the rights of others to choose their own lifestyle.
there must be some evolutionary advantage...i don't know, i haven't put much thought into it, but there very well could be something
dont worry about it. I dont think it matters really. I wont be thinking about this in a few hours..so why let it bother you now?
homosexuality can be an effective reproduction strategy, counterintuitive as it sounds.
the gay gene is made when in the fetus and no i cant be weeded out its natural and will be staying for quite some time
WTF

homophobe much?

go in a corner and cry yourself

gay people are just as much a human as you are idiot
Natural selection does not appear to have ';weeded out'; Catholic priests yet. I doubt it will for gay people.
Yes, because we know that straight people never ever ever have gay children.
Because gay people have children, of course.
ten christians are going to tell ou that being gay is a choice. i garauntee it
No such thing as the gay gene. It's your own personal decision and it's one that'll get you all types of STDs. Don't believe me, why do all the gay people get STDs and spread them on to straight people or other homos? The person had to be gay or the person they fucked were gay before.
There is not anything genetically associated with being GAY....That is a crock of MESS....NO one is born GAY.....Adopting this lifestyle is a ';LEARNED BEHAVIOR.';.......Simple......
