Are there any atheists who are against gay marriage?

I know the majority of people who do hate gays do it because their religion says gays are bad. I'm a Christian and I believe that using your religion to hate on people is wrong. However I have heard a few times where some atheists are against gay marriage. I think I did anyway. It's been a while so my memory might be a bit faulty. I was just curious are any of you atheists here against gay marriage and if so why?Are there any atheists who are against gay marriage?

That's because there are legitimate reasons that people do not support the homosexual lifestyle. Labeling these objections as ';hate'; is inflammatory and misleading. I am not aware of any religion that says homosexuals are bad; I know of a few that says homosexuality is bad. There is a very significant difference.
yes but fewer, I have know a few atheists with conservative moral views, but these are not as outspoken as all the young people trying to be cool in every way possible, (Atheist, liberal, smart@$$ ect)...





I once knew an atheist who was a Pat Buchanan supporter in the early 90's he didn't like gays, liberals or feminist, a real survival of the fittest atheist, he also believe in the general supremacy of white culture and DNA, an odd but interesting fellow
I hate the thought of gay marriage, because it is completely unnatural, and disgusting. Marriage should only be between people of the opposite sexes.





By the way, religion and gay's rights are separate issues, so don't just assume that most atheists are for gay's rights. And you know what they say when you assume (you make an @$$ out of u and me).
I am not against that which personally does me no harm. I am for equal protection under the law.





Edit: Dr. Bob, you're splitting hairs. They are not seperate issues. Only in a fantasy world can one expect a person to ignore one of the most basic biological drives humans have. And yes, homosexual sex counts as the drive to reproduce even though nothing comes of it. The drive is to spread your seed or accept the seed (whatever the case may be).

I'm not saying I will ever try to stop others from getting married, or even tell any married people I think they wasted their money... I'll even get married if my girlfriend thinks it's important, but I just don't think it's anything. Basically, I don't care. It's none of my business.

Marriage is a traditionally religious event. I don't see why atheists would care.

We have a gay friend who is against gay marriage, for whatever that's worth.

Gays and atheists are on the same spiritual side. They shouldn't hate each other.
