After the protests are over, will the gay marriage issue be over?

I seriously doubt that legislation would pass across all of America allowing gay marriage, especially down here in the south. After the protests are over, will the gay marriage issue be over?
it will never be over because it will never be legalized MHAHAHAHAAfter the protests are over, will the gay marriage issue be over?
the south thought the same thing about slavery.

CA can easily pass another ballot initiative in 2-4 years reversing this one.

the previous one was a 64% for banning it but the law was unconstitutional as written. this time it was 52% for the ban to be written into the constitution. that is a huge shift in opinion. more than anything else, old people are the ones supporting the ban. every 2 years the next wave of voters will be more and more supportive.
People who wanted to legalize interracial marriage didn't give up.
The gay marriage issue will not be over until gay people can have equal rights.
It will be over when straight and gay people are completely equal under law.
